Beautycounter Cleansing Balm | Diane Sanfilippo

It took me a while to try this “cult” favorite: Beautycounter Cleansing Balm.

Truth be told, I was hesitant since I have acne prone skin, and since I used the oil cleansing method (OCM) a while back with coconut oil which didn't do much for my skin aside from keep junky ingredients away.

My skin always seemed dull while using OCM with plain coconut oil.

And, there's nothing wrong with doing so, and it's quite economical. But, I frankly didn't realize what having active ingredients and quality nutrients in skincare (let alone a cleanser) could do for my skin.

This past December, while home for several weeks (a safe time for me to test a product that may cause a breakout, I thought), I gave the Beautycounter Cleansing Balm a try.

OH. MY. GOSH. I was sort of annoyed with myself for not trusting what tons of clients and consultants had been saying since I first heard about Beautycounter. They said over and over that they can't live without the Cleansing Balm.

It feels strange at first to melt this semi-solid oily product into your hands to then massage onto your face – it doesn't foam like a soapy cleanser would. But once you wipe it off with a wet, warm cloth, and feel (and see) your skin after, it's pretty amazing.

This came in especially handy while I was traveling for the whole month of January not only through super cold and dry weather, but wearing tons of makeup almost daily.

How it helped my skin.

The Beautycounter Cleansing Balm not only helped to deeply cleanse off makeup (admittedly, I washed first with the charcoal bar, second with the Balm because I had SO much makeup on for events), but it left my skin feeling soft and supple after.

Typically after cleansing when you are in a dry, wintery climate, your skin feels sort of tight and almost painful after cleansing. Not with this balm!

My skin feels hydrated, smooth, and revived after using this balm. I am totally obsessed now and I use it whenever I can, alternating with the Charcoal Bar (also great for acne prone skin).

If you've been thinking about trying the Beautycounter Cleansing Balm, I have to say, allow me to push you off the fence and into the Cleansing Balm Fanatic Camp.

It's great for any skin type (I am acne prone and it's been great for me but I can't say if it's perfect for every type of acne-prone skin), though if you have very oily skin I might steer clear. If you have dry or combination skin, I think it's worth a try.

Here's an article to read up on more uses for the Cleansing Balm aside from what I described above!

  1. I’m laughing, because I also was skeptical. Also the high price point. Even with my consultant discount I was hesitant to buy. But I splurged last month and oh-em-gee!

Love it! Makes my skin super smooth and moisturized. I’m also acne prone but haven’t noticed any breakouts since using it. I sometimes cleanse with it, but my favorite use has been as an overnight treatment. I swear I wake up and my face looks brighter and smoother. Freaking love Beautycounter!

  2. Hi. So do you always double cleanse at night? Balm then charcoal? If not how do you alternate? Am & pm routine. Also do you use any of the oils? Thx

  3. I love my cleansing balm! I live at a high altitude, and my skin is super dry. The cleansing balm has brought my skin back to life. Like i said, I love it, but it’s all of a sudden kind of grainy? Is this normal?

  4. I cleanse AND moisturize with this balm and my skin has never been more clean, soft, or clear. I’ve struggled with breakouts forever and literally haven’t had a single pimple since I began using this regularly. I swear by this product! I can’t live without it! I’ve never been more of a fan of any skincare product in my life. If they stop making it, I don’t know what I’ll do.
