Easy Recipe: Mineral-Rich Bone Broth

Bone broth provides our bodies with bio-available (very easy to consume, digest and absorb) forms of calcium, magnesium, phosphorous and other trace minerals that are so lacking in our diets today.

Dr. Terry Wahls mentioned bone broth in our interview on last week's Balanced Bites Podcast, so here is an easy recipe so you can make it yourself!

Balanced Bites Podcast Episode #289: Dr. Terry Wahls: The Wahls Protocol and Cooking for Life

If you were to sit down and write out a list of all of the different plants you eat in a year (including spices, herbs, and teas, – both dried and fresh!), do you think you'd be anywhere near 200 different kinds?!

That's what Dr. Terry Wahls wants us all to eat each year to obtain the variety of nutrients that would be truly optimal for our health. Whew! That's a lot!

One listener even started keeping a list as soon as she heard that idea – check it out!

Though Dr. Wahls is no stranger to the show, this interview addressed your questions about eating on a budget, nightshades, fungal infections and keto on the Wahls Protocol, plus so much more!

Additionally, if you don't know Dr. Wahls' story, you must tune in. One listener describes her as the “walking miracle!”

What listeners are already saying about this episode:

“This was the first episode my DH listened to and he kept asking me to pause and replay parts so he could hear something repeated or ask a question. You have no idea how monumental that was.”
– almcd.tweatstuff

“Awesome episode!!” – kym_the_healthnut

“Thank you for this podcast interview. @drterrywahls is the reason why I changed my life three years ago and have stopped my MS from progressing. I think your interviewing skills and honest excitement made this podcast episode even more amazing. I may have been primal/paleo for over 3 years but I still keep learning and love podcast such as yours. Also loved the podcast you did with @dasrobbwolf Thank you for you!!!”

Highlights from Instagram

#TBT: August, 2012. The first time I was ever signing my name inside of a book, the writing of which took almost everything out of me until I began to connect with all of you for whom this book has changed your life. Strike that. For whom you allowed this book to ignite you to CHANGE YOUR OWN LIFE. . Little did I know where that would take me. Thank you all for being on this journey with me. Thank you for taking this book and doing the work. I'm grateful to have been able to help motivate positive changes for you even without ever knowing your name or your face. . And an extra *special* thanks to anyone who was present at an event where I did this many more times if I visited a city near you. The presence of each and every one of you meant the world to me. And getting to know your name, your face, and your story is everything.❤ . #practicalpaleo #ppfftour #paleotour #yesihadbangs #lefty #ifirsttouredbeforeinstagramwasathing

If you like seeing these, please comment below and let me know! AND: If you have questions about low-carb/keto eating, please ask them here as well! . FRIDAY, MARCH 31, 2017. . BREAKFAST: Note – I only ate about half of this – keep reading… 2 scrambled eggs with EVERYTHING BAGEL seasoning blend #BBspices (for sale soon!), goat cheese, sautéed kale, sauerkraut, and some blueberry maple sausages I made on FB Live – link in my bio for both spices and to get to my FB page. I didn’t work out in the morning as usual but was hungry so I made this meal, then somehow didn’t feel like eating most of it – very strange for me but oh well. The plate is medium-sized. Not pictured: @chameleoncoldbrew with coconut milk and about 1/4 scoop of @perfectketones chocolate sea salt flavor (which I think may have dulled my appetite, but I’m not sure yet).
.
LUNCH: @fullbodyfix and I went out to @roam_burgers for a Friday lunch date. I had the Wild boar lettuce-wrapped burger (ordered as the Pacific Blue- has blue cheese on it) and asparagus with Manchego cheese on it. And I ate maybe 8 of Scott's fries! I also had some unsweetened iced tea. This didn’t quite fill me (note to self: always get 2 patties when eating low carb!), so I got home and had some goat milk yogurt with peanut butter, PB2, and some @purewod vanilla beef protein mixed in (only about 1/4 scoop of that b/c the stevia is too much for my palate in a large qty and then I don’t care for the taste). Also an extra cold brew.
.
DINNER: I’ve been craving egg salad all week, so I made some! Used 1 dozen eggs with 3 Tbsp @primalkitchenmayo and 1 Tbsp homemade pesto, celery salt, and black pepper. So good! Ate it in lettuce wraps. . Chocolate: I had a few of “squares” worth of the 100% dark choc. It is amazing and fairly low sugar though not as low as 100%, but I’m out of that for the moment. Maybe had a bite of peanut btr as well while trying to make those failed cookies :-/ .
Some context:
Yes, I eat goat dairy and peanut butter. Neither is considered Paleo. You can learn more about how to find what works for you in this regard in the 2nd ed of #PracticalPaleo (link in my bio) #whatiateinaday #whatdianeate #keto #lowcarb
