New Recipe: Gluten-Free Sausage Gravy & Biscuits

For the last two years, Scott (my husband) and I have hosted a holiday champagne brunch for our friends here in San Francisco. We try to make something special for our guests to enjoy each year. Last year, I made Brittany Angell's extra crispy waffles. This year, we wanted to one-up ourselves and Scott had the idea to make gluten-free biscuits.

I jumped into the kitchen with the brand new Balanced Bites Spices Italian blend and decided to make Sausage Gravy to go with the gluten0-free biscuits.

If you need a holiday breakfast recipe, this was a huge hit! You won't be disappointed.

Highlights from Instagram

In the #BBMasterClass, @realfoodliz and I walk you through everything you need to know about real food nutrition, start to finish. . The class is perfect for anyone who wants to dive deeper, it's not just for those who are health practitioners! . The student track will help anyone figure out a plan for your own health challenges, and is a great springboard into a formal nutrition training if you decide that's the right path for you later on. . If you do currently work with people, we have an expanded course for you to take that offers resources to use with clients and a separate community. . Tap the link in my bio to learn all about the 10-week course that opens for enrollment on December 26th! . http://www.blog.balancedbites.com/masterclass . Photo by one of our beta testers as she studies from the video module on blood wider. . #Repost @cecemcclintick ・・・ Now this is the kind of nutrition education EVERYONE can benefit from…understanding nutrition facts when reading labels for entire meals or individual foods. The option you think may be the right choice is not always obvious or correct unless you understand that food is information for the body and how the body uses different nutrients. Calories, fat, carbs, sodium, cholesterol, fiber, sugar, vitamins, minerals…what does it all mean?!?! I am #loving my #bbmasterclass with Diane and Liz from #balancedbites – they know their stuff! Knowing the basics of nutrition, blood sugar, fats, carbs, proteins, the myths and truths about nutrition and food, and how important #realfood living is…truly valuable!! If you have the opportunity to take this class…#justdoit . #paleo #practicalpaleo #healthcoach #ntp #ntc #nta #nutritioncoach @ntatraining

When I cook at night, the photos are not amazing :-/ . Instant Pot (it's not an Instapot, guys! Two words!) red curry chicken soup inspired by my friend @tastyyummies who made a similar one in her IP yesterday as so graciously texted me what she did. I modified it using what I had on-hand. . I'll see if I can blog it next week, but here's what went in: 1 large onion, diced 4 garlic cloves, smashed 1″ piece of ginger ~ 2 cups chopped kale 2 carrots, chopped ~ 1.25# raw chicken thighs, cut into 1.5″ pieces ~ 4 cups chicken broth 1 can full fat coconut milk ~ 2 tablespoons Thai red curry paste (I used Thai Kitchen brand) A few dashes of fish sauce A few pinches of sea salt . I set it to 5 mins on high pressure, then it took about 45 minutes to depressurize naturally. . Garnished with some lime juice and I would have used cilantro, too if I had any! . #instantpot #instantpotrecipes #paleoinstantpot #dianesinstantpot

A lot of you have been asking me about my current training program, since I've mentioned it in a few places but haven't detailed it. Well, today's build to heavy single cleans wasn't part of it, but it was my Sunday movement session dictated by what felt good when I got to the gym. I'll talk about what I'm doing 5-days a week soon in a blog post. But here's what I did today. . First, I warmed up my lower and mid back with exercises from my husband's protocols in the @fullbodyfix program (literally game changing for my low back and my ability to deadlift and clean/front squat). . I then lifted multiples at lower weights to warm up and built to a weight I felt was heavy just for one rep, then I set a clock and mostly went 1 on the minute for maybe 10 minutes or so. I lost track. It's Sunday, people. . I can't often video what I'm doing because it's usually pretty crowded, and also, it's rude of me to even have the few background folks in this shot (but I think they remain anonymous quite easily here). I'll try to get there earlier on the weekends to give you a peek in the future. I know you guys enjoy seeing that I do things other than cook, eat, talk, and take pictures 😉 . Note: this post is NOT an invitation for Instagram movement coaching. While I appreciate that you may have something so amazing to add to my life with a simple comment, this isn't the point of my post and I'll leave that feedback for my specific coaches when necessary. 😘 . #flipslifts #clean #girlswholift #liftheavy #liftheavyshit
