Here's what was up last week!

Diane: Direct Vlog

A few weeks ago, I posted a photo on Instagram of Scott and I at our City Hall wedding. We were both 34 when we met, and after seeing that post, I saw so many comments coming in from you ladies, saying it gave you hope! Let's talk! (Interestingly enough, I think it was my most-liked post EVER on Instagram! See the post and the video in the link above.)

And then, this week on the vlog, Scott jumped on with me to talk about some of the work you can do starting TODAY to not only know yourself better, but to be the best partner you can be in your relationship, too.

Massive Accountability

I don't know if this is true abroad, but here in the United States, we have a pervasive sickness in the way people behave towards one another (made worse by social media) that can only be healed by MASSIVE ACCOUNTABILITY.

New Book! The #21DSD Daily Guide

I'm in the final stages of editing my newest book, “The 21-Day Sugar Detox Daily Guide”! It releases January 2nd, 2018 and is one part daily guide, one part meal plan, and one part EASY RECIPES you are going to LOVE!!!

It's available for preorder now, and we have some awesome pre-order gifts planned (releasing in December!) that'll kick you off perfectly for your first few days of your 21DSD come January!

To pre-order the book click here.

#21DSD BANANA BREAD // I made this today and crossed my fingers that it would work so that it could be ready for those of you who are getting the new book that's coming out January 2nd… AND IT DID. . I'm really proud of this because, as we all know, baking is not my strong suit. So, if you're not on the @21daysugardetox, you'd probably want a different recipe or you could make this one with super ripe bananas, but this one uses 21DSD-approved green-tipped/underripe ones, with a twist. . The result is yummy but not SO yummy that you will want to eat more than a portion (because that's what happens when sugar and fat combine… but that didn't happen here – because no added sugar). . Okay, enough teasing because this recipe won't be out for you until the book is out, but you *can* preorder it now via the link in my bio. . “The 21-Day Sugar Detox Daily Guide” – 1/2/18. . ALSO: if you'd love to meet me on a tour, comment below with the nearest major city to you, since I'd love to meet you early next year in January! . #21DSDdailyguide #sugarfree #sugardetox #obscuremycousinvinnereferenceinthere

Highlights from Instagram

YOUR THOUGHTS // According to Brian Tracy, the world’s leading success coach (and countless others who say the same thing in various ways): “You become what you think about most of the time. And, when you change your thinking, you change your life.” . Part of who I am is innate, “I was born this way,” it’s my personality, etc. Much of it is learned and exercised into my brain and my psyche, and therefore into my daily life thoughts and practice. I do not simply sit down and hope things come to me or wish for things in my life. I create a vision, and a plan, and I do the work and execute on things to move myself in the direction of my vision. . But how? What is a practical way to train yourself to “get better” at these ways of thinking? . Here is is… I listened to this audio series as part of “sales training” when I worked at Lululemon for several months back in late 2007/early 2008 while I was starting Balanced Bites as a meal delivery business. I didn’t quite “get” how this was supposed to help me sell more stretchy pants at the time, but I remember sitting and listening and thinking, “well, whatever this is, it’s SUCKING ME IN AND I CANNOT STOP LISTENING.” . Fast forward a few years to when I was in the last job I’ll ever have that I mostly hated (the work itself was fine, but going to an office, on a schedule, with a boss, and sitting in a cube), and I listened to this on the way to and from on the bus or in my car. . Fast forward another year or so when I was traveling to teach Paleo seminars around the country, and I listened to this in airports, on airplanes, and everywhere in between. . We do not simply become better at things or more successful or wealthier by chance. . As Brian says: “Thoughts are causes and conditions are effects. Your thoughts create the conditions of your life. Successful people think about what they want and how to get it (where they’re going and how to get there). Unsuccessful people think about what they don’t want and who is to blame.” . What do YOU think about most of the time? . LISTEN: “The New Psychology of Achievement.” Find it on Audible. #dianedirect #briantracy

San Francisco is iconic. It's a tourist destination. It's filled with views and scenes that we can all appreciate in see on a regular basis. . But what if we stopped to appreciate some lesser-known parts? What if we stopped and looked at something from a new angle, and appreciated it for how beautiful it is? . Maybe you can do this in your own home town or city. Just stop and appreciate the beauty of a moment in a spot where the light hits the water or a tree or grass or a flower… maybe even take a picture and share what you see as beautiful. . I'm rambling but I stopped to take this picture on our morning walk because I felt like if I had seen this while traveling abroad, I would have taken it. So why not here at home? Why not appreciate these views when they're in our own “backyard”? . I hope this encourages you to see beauty somewhere simple tomorrow.

16 years. I honestly can’t believe it was THAT long ago when we all went to sleep on another fall evening not knowing what we’d wake up to the next morning. . Sunset walk last night. // I take this, and so many other experiences, as a lesson in a daily, regular, and abundant gratitude practice. Be so thankful to wake up each day and rest your head on the pillow each night. None of us truly knows what tomorrow will hold. . 9/11/01: I was driving to work that day, which happened to be in The Children’s Place store at the Livingston Mall in NJ. My job at the time was with TCP corporate in Secaucus, but this day was one where I was to experience store work for a day, to see what it was like to receive shipments, etc. It was sort of a funny request for me to do, since I had literally done that work for 6 years in Gap stores, but whatever, I was a good sport and didn’t resist it since every new HQ employee was asked to do this. At the time the idea of NOT being in an office for the day was welcomed. I never did like office life. . I was scheduled to be in the store at 9am and recall vividly being in my car, approaching the mall and listening to the Morning Zoo on Z100 as I always did. Except, this morning, Elvis and the crew weren’t making jokes and laughing. The news hit HARD and was very, very confusing. . I entered the mall before open hours, which was always silent and nearly empty, but this morning felt eerily more so. A few minutes after I got to the store, a visual merchandiser arrived who had been at the World Trade Center store earlier that morning helping them change out displays. . She had been at the World Trade Center THAT MORNING. She couldn’t believe what she had just narrowly escaped. Neither could we. We couldn’t believe anything that was happening that morning. . We closed up the store shortly thereafter and I spent the rest of the day with a friend, pinned to the television. . Cell service wasn’t getting through to anyone. Most of my friends were working in the city. We eventually found out they were all okay, and had walked to one friend’s brother’s apartment uptown in the city for safety. . Continued in 1st comment…
