Balanced Bites Charitable Giving Update Q3 2020

I have felt in my heart for a long time that I wanted to find a way to give back through my business. Outside of the donations I make personally, I wanted to give you the opportunity to give back to the community by purchasing our products or nominating friends and family members in need.

This year, we held a number of fundraising campaigns and also experimented with different ways you can donate through your purchases of Balanced Bites meals, spices, and more.

Thanks to your generosity, we've donated hundreds of meals and thousands of dollars to the community.

With so many people looking for tangible ways to help during this challenging year, it has been an honor to use commerce as an engine for good and give back in this way. Here's a recap of 2020 company donations and charitable initiatives so far.

Following the launch of Balanced Bites Spices SUPER BLENDS in May, we committed to donating at least $1 per jar sold to the NAACP. For the time period of May through September, we sold thousands of jars and gave our own contribution to make a $5,000 donation total.

This summer, we added a simple way for you to “round up” your purchase of Balanced Bites Spices to donate to the Equal Justice Initiative. We committed to matching the total raised through round up (up to $2,000), and so far have donated $1,250 total with your contributions and our match.

Back in March, we held a fundraising campaign to donate Balanced Bites meals to healthcare workers in areas heavily impacted by COVID-19.

Thanks to your generosity, we raised $12,100 (including a $5,000 contribution from Balanced Bites).

We donated 960 meals (nearly 100 boxes!) to individuals in the hardest hit areas of California, and a large number of doctors and nurses in New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, and neighboring states.

We heard many heartfelt stories from the Balanced Bites community about loved ones on the frontlines of COVID-19. Here are a few who gave permission to share.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to these initiatives and is giving back through your support of Balanced Bites.

We'll continue to share updates on the website and our newsletter on a quarterly basis.
