In the past couple months, I've addressed fats and carbohydrates.. so now it's time to move on to the last macronutrient: protein!
Protein is made up of amino acids, which are the building blocks of our body and cells.
In fact, protein is responsible for building every single cell in our body! It also helps control our appetite and satiety and is to credit for strong hair and nails.
Protein is the macronutrient you should begin with when you are building your plate. Similar to carbohydrates, it offers 4 calories per gram. A portion is about the size of the palm of your hand, or about 4 ounces. You should aim for a portion at every single meal.

“When I hold 21-Day Sugar Detox groups I always bring a snack, something the participants want to try but haven’t yet made. Groups can get tricky sometimes. Everyone might be on a different level, have different food allergies or sensitivities, or be avoiding foods for different reasons.
My current group has someone egg-free and I wanted the Tart Lemon Torte on page 194 of The 21-Day Sugar Detox Cookbook. What’s a person to do? Make some substitutions! This is my version, an egg-free lemon pie, and it’s fantastic!”

Balanced Bites Spices. Coming soon. . First to the line are the Practical Paleo Blends, to make cooking from the book *even* easier. . To answer a few questions: 1. I don't have an exact date for you yet, but trust me, you will know when! 2. There are 3 nightshade-free blends for those of you who eat AIP (I do *not* consider seed-based spices problematic for most on AIP through my work with countless folks over the years). 3. These blends all contain sea salt. #noblandfood (If you need salt-free blends for medical reasons you can mix these from recipes in the book without the salt or another brand will work better for you.) There is only sugar in one blend, the Coffee BBQ. 4. The bottles are large, but not gigantic or bulk sized. They're about 1.5-2x the size of standard grocery store-sized spices, by my visual estimation. 5. They will be shipping in the US & internationally. . Do that. . Then do some more of it. . Then keep going when others tell you you’re crazy. . Ignore the noise. Ignore the haters. Ignore the “have nots” who think that it’s pointless to work so feverishly on something for which you don’t know the outcome. . You can’t build a business by trying to make money. . You also can’t build a business by doing a thing that you think you should do to be successful, happy, or make money. . Building a successful business DEPENDS on you being SO FREAKING LIT UP about your work that you can’t put it down. You can’t stop thinking about it. You wake up early to work on it. Your head is filled with ideas at night as you fall asleep. . You see, you guys tell me every day that you aren’t sure what kind of business to start or how to build a business. . I’m saying, don’t think about building a business. I mean, yes, at some point you need to have infrastructure, an emailing list, etc… . But you don’t create a business by checking off a list of “doing the things you’re supposed to do to create a business.” This is why I haven’t created a program for you all at this point. . I can’t teach you passion. I can’t teach you drive. I can’t teach you motivation. I can’t teach you what lights you up. . You know what lights you up. . Your friends know what lights you up. . But when are you going to stop being afraid of that thing and let it overtake you and run with it? . Only then will your passion combine with a drive and work ethic you never knew you had to create a business where people are magnetized to you and work work. . Because they can’t not be. Because passion and energy like that is magnetic. . What lights you up? Do that. . As the great Will Smith once said, “and if it ain't broke then don't try to fix it.” . My breakfast most mornings is pretty much this: two fried eggs with goat cheese and chives, oven fries / baked potato “chips” from #PracticalPaleo just cut thicker with some organic ketchup, and a huge pile of kale cooked with bacon and spices and finished with lemon (not pictured here for some reason). . Many of you know that I have been using two different spice blends on my breakfast that I created after writing PP and also after updating it, and that they're not part of the initial line of #BBspices. They'll probably come soon after this first 8. . So that's my Everything Bagel blend and my Trifecta blend. . QUESTION: I'm curious if there are other flavor profiles or blends you've used in the past (maybe they weren't organic or it was a really long time ago) that you haven't been able to replace? .
