  1. Just listened to episode 69 today – great information but many areas where the conversation dropped out. So disappointed that I might have missed something great! Thought you would want to know about the technical difficulties.

  2. Love the podcast, listen every week. (Even though I’m really not sure what Liz has against libraries, as a librarian I find those comments a bit annoying) . . . It helps to keep me on track and learning more every week. This week was the first time I’ve had a true “complaint” though – the sounds quality was just terrible. Several times the audio just dropped out altogether and important bits of information were missed. In the whole 54 minutes long podcast, I’d guess a good 5 min of it were silent or unintelligible. Not a huge problem, but definitely one to look into and try to avoid in the future. Keep up the good work!

    1. Hi Amy-

We’re hearing from a few people that this week’s podcast had some audio issues. The sad thing is, we didn’t hear or notice them AT ALL while recording. We didn’t change anything we did or modify settings, etc. We are often at the mercy of the internet connections we all have, which can especially weaken when there is a guest. We apologize for this but hopefully if there are any unanswered questions from the episode, you can comment with them here and we will try to jump back on and answer them for ya.

      Thanks for tuning in!

  3. I really appreciate the hard work you guys put into these podcasts, so please don’t take this as a complaint. I was so eager to hear what Chris Masterjohn had to say about FCLO, but because of the gaps, I’m not sure how beneficial he finds it to be. I have been taking the fermented cod liver oil/ butter oil blend since October, although I missed a couple weeks at the end of December when I ran out before my reorder was shipped, and I can’t say I’ve noticed a difference in my health or appearance. I’m wondering whether it is worth the high price. Also, I have a question about what Chris was saying regarding the vitamin K2 in FCLO. He didnt seem to think it had much. I was wondering whether he was talking about the straight FCLO, as opposed to the FCLO/BO blend. I was under the impression that the butter oil was the component that supplied the vitamin K2.

    1. To answer your questions:
      1. Chris does recommend a high vitamin cod liver oil (as the FCLO is) largely for the vitamin A & D content – he takes it himself (Green Pastures brand).
      2. Correct, he does not believe there to be much K2 in the FCLO, but also correct in that Liz and I recommend the /BO blend because K2 is found largely in grass-fed dairy. Other sources of K2 include some hard cheeses, natto (fermented soy), and some cured meats like salamis.

      1. Thanks, Diane. Do you think eating canned salmon twice a week provides enough omega 3s, assuming my diet is pretty low in omega 6 fats? I’m not a seafood fan, and I have a very hard time cooking fresh fish (and I can’t really afford it anyway). I eat Trader Joe’s canned sockeye salmon with skin and bones, which I’ve read are beneficial, and manage to choke down a half a can at a time, for a total of 15 ounces per week. The cans are BPA-free.

When I started taking the FCLO/BO blend, I stopped taking fish oil capsules. Will my fish consumption plus the FCLO/BO provide enough EPA/DHA?

Thanks again for the information you provide. I have your book and have recommended it to my friends and family.

  4. Hi Diane,

Thanks so much for the great podcast with Chris. I learned a lot. I started taking FCLO from Green Pastures but I’m doing it in the non-gelatin capsule form rather than drinking the liquid straight. Could you comment on whether there is any nutritional difference between the capsule form and drinking the product straight?
